St. Joe Softball Code of Conduct for Players, Parents and Coaches

All players, parents and coaches must control their emotions at all times. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Abusive language or disrespect to coaches, players or umpires will not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave.

Coaches and officials are to be respected at all times. Rules state, “only the head coach may address the umpire”. PLEASE DO NOT say anything to the umpire.

Parents will not criticize coaches. Playing time will be determined by the coach only, parents will have no say in playing time. Coaches are willing to discuss your child, but always in private.

Parents will encourage all players from both teams. Cheer your child on, but do not shout instructions, that is our job.

Please have your child at practice and games on time. This allows the players ample time to stretch and warm up. When a player is late it is not their fault, they don’t drive.

We will end practice on time. Please pick up your child on time. Arrive 10 minutes early to hear any announcements, players and parents will be addressed at this time.

At no time will a player be late or miss a practice or game without first talking with their coach.

Players must remain in the dugout area during games, no food or cell phones allowed!

Parents must refrain from entering the dugout area.

Players must listen to and obey the coach’s instructions.

All players will warm up together. Team spirit must be maintained by every player. All remarks to teammates must be positive.

The way you practice is the way you will play. Always hustle. Never say “I can’t”, always say “I’ll try”.

We are here to instruct. Players are here to learn, and should expect criticism, it is their best teacher.

Teaching does not stop when the game begins, the diamond is our classroom. Our focus is that the girls have fun, but learn to play the game the right way.

It is important that players report all injuries to their coach immediately. We can’t always know when they are hurt.

If you do not receive a text from the coach, the game is still on, please show up – even if it is raining!

I have read and agree to abide by these rules_______________________________________________
